Do you need an SR22 with your Insurance? DUI, DWI, OVWI

Do you need an SR22 filing on your insurance?

Do I need an SR22 or FR44?
Generally speaking, people whose license is under suspension for a DUI / DWI / OVWI by the Department of Motor vehicles need an SR22 Filing to reinstate their license. You may have been instructed by the court or DMV to obtain a financial responsibility filing. You may need an SR22 or FR44 even if your license is currently active to keep it from being suspended.

There are other reasons that someone may need a financial responsibility filing, these include, but are not limited to, driving without insurance, being in an accident without insurance, suspensions, unpaid fines, or failure to comply with a variety of other rules, laws, and regulations.
How long will I need an SR22 filing or FR44 Filing?

Generally speaking, someone with a DUI or alcohol-related violation will need an SR22 filing or FR44 filing for 3 years. The start dates for the filings also vary by location because the DMV may suspended your license for a certain amount of time and then advise you of a unique date when you can obtain your license again with an SR22 or FR44.  When we obtain an insurance quote for you, we can go over your violation and conviction dates.
