Remote Tutor Insurance

Remote learning and online tutoring insurance

Work from home and learn from home are growing more and more, which means that people are probably accessing your tutoring services from home.

You might think that if you tutor online or are a remote tutor that you do no need insurance, but that's not the case.  You still need insurance if you tutor online.  While the risks of a general liability claim, like a trip and fall claim, are not as prevalent, there is still a big risk of an E&O or professional liability claim.

Professional liability claims can result when a client, for example, feels that your professional service caused them a financial loss, or even they feel that you provided inadequate service.  For example, if someone's child does not get admitted to a college because of their test scores, the parents could sue you, saying that your tutoring service was the cause of this, and now the student will need additional tutoring, for which they want you to pay.  This is just a micro example of what could happen.

We have also seen requests from school districts requiring tutors to have their own insurance, which is another reason that tutors buy insurance.
